Welcome to My Polymer Clay Diary

Welcome to My Polymer Clay Diary

Welcome Crafters! If you’re here for cool insights about polymer clay miniature food jewelry, you’ve come to the right place.  I’m Amanda Finch and I am a polymer clay miniature food jewelry maker.  I am also a busy mom of a wild and crazy four-year old, an equine lover, a feng shui enthusiast, and head of a creative and chaotic household.

Like many crafters and artists out there, I seek a creative outlet because of the benefits I receive from it- like momentary breaks of peace and sanity; and the act of creating art allows for me to expand out to greater ideas and possibilities.  Art gets my blood flowing.

For a span of  time ranging from my college years up to almost 40 years old, I denied myself time for art. As a high-school student I was serious about art and making larger scale pastel drawings.  I was given carte blanche access to the art rooms and all media during lunch of both high schools I attended as a teen. Teachers knew I was serious about learning, portraiture, color, sculpture, media, form, ect.  Then I went to college. I pushed my love of art aside because I kept on hearing over and over like a broken record, “there is no money in art”.  The truth is, I  am a true artist and should have majored in art and never listened to those stupid voices that could never do what I do with total ease in a hundred million years. Today I am doing what I love and making time for it.  I love teaching, experimenting, celebrating, and all things art.  Enough about me, LET’S MAKE MINIS!  Love, Amazing Amanda

Polymer Clay Frosting Techniques:

I’ve been experimenting with this to say the least. Over the next week I’ll be writing about what I know to be true about frosting and polymer clay. As a miniature food polymer clay artist, understanding frosting in different media is crucial to making high-quality strong and durable charms. Know your media! I have learned that even fimo deco gel in large amounts mixed with polymer clay can have strength issues.  It’s true.  Buckle up buttercup! This next Polymer Clay Diary article will include:
